The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors said its strike action which enters day 25 today will continue until all its demands are met.

The NARD issued this resolution on Thursday at the end of its extraordinary National Executive Council meeting held at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Edo State.

According to its communique made available to PUNCH HealthWise, the NARD insist that the circular from the head of service removing house officers from the scheme of service must be withdrawn.

The communique was signed by NARD’s President, Dr. Uyilawa Okhuaihesuyi; the Secretary-General, Dr. Jerry Isogun and the Publicity/Social Secretary, Dr. Dotun Osikoya.

The association stated that after critical appraisal of the actions of both Federal and state governments on all the issues affecting the welfare of its members, it has resolved to continue with the strike action.

It condemned the perpetual insincerity from the government as evidence by the reckless exparte injunctions sought by the FG and the ambiguity in the interpretation of the ruling of the National industrial court of Nigeria.

The NARD noted that the NEC of the association has unanimously agreed via a vote to sustain the ongoing industrial action until all NARD’s demands as contained in the Memorandum Of Action signed more than 140 days ago and the recent Memorandum of Understanding signed between the government and Nigerian Medical Association are met.

Details later.
