Lagos, the Federal Capital Territory and eleven other states reported 505 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, according to figures released on Wednesday by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
The health agency also reported three additional COVID-19 related deaths.
The NCDC disclosed this on its official website on Tuesday.
According to the agency, the 505 new cases were recorded from Lagos, Rivers, the FCT and 10 other states.
Lagos recorded the highest numbers for new infections with 275 reported cases, Rivers – 63, Akwa Ibom – 62, Gombe – 22, Ogun – 8, FCT – 4, Edo – 3, Imo – 2, while Kano, Nasarawa, Sokoto, Jigawa and Ebonyi states had a single case each.
The health agency said the 505 new COVID-19 infections have brought the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 175, 264
However, 165,122 COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged in the country, the agency said.
With three deaths reported, the death toll from the virus has risen to 2,163, NCDC said.
It added that a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre, activated at Level 2, had continued to coordinate the national response activities.
